mrblar .. Friends who use winter tires, I know that the casti size of our vehicle is 215 50 17. However, I see that some brands use 205 50 17 instead. I wonder if anyone uses 205 tires. Would it be a problem to use

Although it is not very important if you are constantly driving in the city;

  • Tire height of 215/50 R17 tire with base width 215 mm 215x50 / 100 = 107.5mm
  • Base width is 205 mm Sidewall height of 205/50 R17 tire 205x50 / 100 = 102,5mm

In other words, if there is a difference of 5 mm between the two tires and the rim of the tire, instead of 215, the height of your vehicle will decrease by 1 cm, the comfort will decrease a little, the risk ratio of the tire's cheek failure will increase, but 205 will be more suitable if you have to wear a chain.

195/55 R17 tire It provides a much safer road on wet ground with the same vehicle height as 215 . I on wet ground As the width of the base increases, the speed at which the tire begins to swim decreases, the skid increases in the snow, however, as the width of the base decreases on dry ground, the braking distance increases.

Thanks a lot for your information, as far as I understand, it will be more convenient to buy an original size tire, although there is not much difference apart from the details. According to my research, there is not much price difference between these two dimensions.

The length of the 215 tires is transverse
The sidewall size of 50 tires is the part that touches the road with the rim.
17 is the rim size
There is no multiplication and division, whatever the cheek length is.

You made me laugh out loud Smile

When searching the answer to ask 2 questions, the information is refreshed ... In order not to mislead people!

1- What is the unit of the 50 number you call cheek length?
2- What is the unit of the 17 number you call rim size and if this number is not mm , how can it be converted to millimeter without math?

Whether it's multiplication or division, math is one of the things to love / learn, there is a lot of math behind everything from meteorological predictions to the design of cars, and the scope of mathematics is still not fully expressed!

Nothing to laugh, go and ask the tire dealer you want. 211 base width equals 21.5 cm.50 sidewall size is 5 cm equivalent.

You are right, the primary problem of the country is that almost everyone thinks that they know everything ... That's why the Turkish content on the internet has turned into a dump!

The second figure is in percentage. It is calculated according to the base length.
You can look after the second minute.
