You mentioned the other thing about the oil steam hose. Normally that pipe will be oiled, but since it does not have an inner cap, it will throw more than that pipe.

Excessive oil from the oil vapor hose may cause the throat butterfly to become dirty more quickly.

It also quickly changes the idling settings.

My vehicle is 8v but it should be the same logic in yours. The original air filter should not get water inside. Although the tip goes down into the fender, the tip bends upwards again.
