What is Supercharger?
Supercharger is an air pump that can absorb more air molecules into the combustion chamber than the engine can absorb. There is a pulley in front of the Supercharger. This pulley moves simultaneously with the engine crank pulley. As the pulley of the Supercharger rotates with the crank pulley, it turns the air compression wheel at the rear. This wheel pushes air molecules into the snail-shaped collector. Compressed air enters the intake manifold. In fact, this wheel that compresses the air and the snail-shaped collector it is used in are also used in turbochargers.
Supercharger has not been invented in recent years. Before the Second World War, Mercedes Benz equipped and competed with Grand Prix cars with Supercharger. In the Second World War, the planes were also superchargered. For example, the Boeing B-29 SuperFortress bomber was powered by Supercharger. To date, many Supercharger models have been invented and used in the automotive industry.

In recent years, Mercedes Benz company offers the option of “Compressor” in many models. Thanks to the SL 55 AMG supercharger, it produces 500 horsepower.

The pressure of the air entering our engine at sea level and under ideal conditions is 1 bar. More precisely, the air pressure that the atmosphere exerts on us is 1 bar. Supercharger creates pressure above this 1 bar air pressure. For example, when the 3.30a 0.25 bar supercharger that produces 240 horsepower with 1 bar of atmospheric pressure is installed, 300 horsepower is obtained.

Why Supercharger?

There are several ways to increase engine power.
The power generated by the engine is calculated as follows:

Power = Pressure * Piston area * Piston height * Revolution * Number of Cylinders / 2
Piston area and Cylinder Height

The piston area and cylinder height express engine volume. This application is not economical as it will be very costly to increase the volume of our engine. 6 new pistons, circlips, seal kit, workmanship, running-in ....
TRANSFER

Increasing the speed brings horsepower. However, it is necessary to decrease the weight of rotating objects such as pistons and arms in order to turn more speed. While the 5.7 Liter Corvette remains at 6500 rpm, the 1.6 Liter Honda can convert 8000 rpm. In other words, as the engine volume increases, it becomes harder to increase the speed. Specially manufactured parts such as pistons, arms and bearings are used to significantly increase the speed. These are subjected to the weight equalization process called “Blue Print”. As a result, it is possible to get 10% horsepower by increasing 10% speed, but this application is also not economical. Considering that Formula 1 engines, which convert 18,000 cycles, retire after each race.

CYLINDER NUMBER

We cannot play with this figure.

PRESSURE

Supercharger increases the amount of air entering the engine. Along with more air, more gasoline burns, the pressure in the combustion chamber rises, and the pistons turn the crank more quickly.

The air pressure entering your engine in standard use is 1 bar, that is, the compressor is disabled. As soon as you switch to sportive use, the supercharger is activated.

Only Supercharging offers the most power from the above methods to get horsepower. It does not spoil daily use and continues its reliability in the weather conditions you want in summer, winter, 365 days.
