If the full sensor passes through it, it has an effect. Because the sensor works with the rate of reflected and rented light. The sensor has a light source and a photo detector. In the absence of rain, all light coming out of the light source reaches the sensor. If there is rain, since the rain droplet creates a different environment over the glass, it causes some light to escape from the glass and therefore the light intensity perceived by the photodetector decreases. The lower it decreases, the faster the wiper works. Anything that can affect this mechanism prevents the system from working properly. It prevents cracked glass and lack of gel.
