Hello, I own a 2003 model, automatic 1.4 gasoline/LPG X-Line 206. My car stalls in low-speed, stop-and-go traffic. Just before stopping, the temperature gauge drops to zero and then stalls. There's no problem with the computer connection for diagnostics. The technicians can't fix the problem because it doesn't stall constantly (the technicians never did). Sometimes it doesn't cause any problems for 15 days, sometimes it stalls 5-6 times a day. They cleaned the throttle body, replaced the coil, and replaced the crank sensor. The technician said there's no problem with the crank sensor. Some say the main fuse box, some say the spark plugs, and some say the throttle body can't be cleaned; they say the original should be purchased. I don't know if they'll be able to diagnose the problem at an authorized Peugeot service center (2750 TL diagnostic fee). How can I solve this problem? Can anyone help? I'm in Ankara.

I had the same problem with my 206 1.4 gasoline + Lig 2006 model. It only happened when the air conditioner was on. The throttle body was cleaned, but that didn't go away. I took it to an electrician. With the car stopped, he held the gas pedal down and turned the ignition on and off 5 times. Then he turned the ignition on and off. The problem was solved. Thankfully, it hasn't stopped firing for a week. You might want to try it yourself.

The low speed, stalling during stop-and-go, and the temperature gauge momentarily dropping to zero you're describing are most likely an electrical connection/contact issue. Especially in Peugeot 206s, this is caused by the BSI computer, main fuse box (BM34), chassis connections, or engine wiring. My brief solution suggestion: Check the main fuse box (BM34) and BSI for oxidation/poor contact. Disconnect, clean, and securely reconnect the chassis cables (engine block chassis and battery chassis). Check the temperature sensor connector and cable (a short circuit in the sensor could cause the ECU to receive incorrect data and stall). A new throttle body is not essential; adaptation and a detailed cleaning are necessary. If the problem persists, a road test with live data should be performed at an authorized service center; this will allow for a momentary outage.
