Spark Plug Maintenance and Cleaning

The spark plugs that carry the ignition energy into the combustion chamber and ignite the fuel mixture stuck between the electrodes formed by the electrodes should be cleaned within 10 thousand kilometers of maximum vehicles, and should be changed between 15 thousand and 30 thousand kilometers according to the conditions of use.


The factors affecting the life of the spark plugs may be poor fuel and engine system settings. Maintenance and maintenance of the spark plugs are important as there may be problems caused by misfire, increased fuel consumption, late acceleration spark plugs.




How do you know your spark plug needs maintenance or cleaning;


- The gap in the spark plugs should be checked, if the adjustment is broken, it should be adjusted according to the factory data,

- If the spark plugs are removed, if there is an oil accumulation, it means that much fuel is entering the combustion chamber,

- If the spark plug insulator tip, electrodes and body have soot, it means that there is a defect in the carburetor or injection setting,

- If the spark plug electrodes are boiled and foreign substances are collected on it, it means that an overload has occurred due to untimely ignition,

- If the spark plugs are damaged by the blow,





Points to be considered during spark plug replacement or cleaning;


- To remove foreign matter, dust and dirt from the cylinder when the spark plug is removed, it should be loosened a little and cleaned around it,

- If the spark plug is installed tightly, lubricating it to the gears and removing the spark plugs without damaging the cylinder head,

- Cleaning the spark plugs and the engine's contacting surfaces when installing spark plugs,

- Loosely installed spark plugs reduce the compression pressure of the cylinder and decrease the traction of the engine and increase the fuel consumption,

- The spark plugs must first be tightened with a wrench with 30 degrees for the new spark plugs, and 30 degrees for the old spark plugs. The degree of wrench tightening is 15 for the tapered spark plugs.

- Check the spark plug cables during cleaning. Make sure that the spark plug cables do not wear out due to cracks, burns, friction and oil.

- Make sure that the spark plug cables do not touch each other and that they are not longer than necessary,
