Hi, I'm experiencing an automatic transmission problem with my 2004 XT Premium model. However, this problem only persists when I first start it in the morning until the engine warms up. When it malfunctions, it seems to be stuck in 3rd gear. It won't downshift or upshift. The problem goes away when I turn the car off and on. The knocking starts when the engine temperature reaches around 97 degrees Celsius. It goes away after I turn on the fan. When I'm stuck in traffic for a long time, it doesn't move forward while in D. It suddenly makes a ticking noise and then continues. I usually experience this problem when going uphill, and I hear a knocking noise under my feet. I would appreciate it if any experienced brothers and sisters could help me before taking it to a mechanic. Thank you.

Hello, sir. The oil level may be low. The solenoid valves may be faulty. The problem with overheating could also be due to what I mentioned. Unfortunately, the AL4 transmission is problematic. The transmission oil cooler may be clogged. These transmissions were overhauled in 2006, and there was some improvement. The oil coolers were enlarged. The oil and two main solenoids are being replaced, and there's a 50% chance of improvement, but definitely have the oil cooler checked. Also, don't forget to check the fault codes.
