Hello friends, I have a 2025 Peugeot 408 GT delivered in March. First of all, I bought this car knowingly and willingly despite all the speculations about the 1.2 Puretech. I bought it after eliminating the T-roc R line, Austral Alpine full ops., Qhasqai skypack and Tucson prime diesel alternatives with differences between 50-130 thousand TL. I have no regrets and I am very happy with it, and it is a car that attracts everyone's attention on the road and the street. Now, let's talk about the first problems I encountered... I noticed that the ambient lights, which normally work, were not working on the 2nd day. Despite disconnecting the terminals 3-5 times, it did not fix it. I barely made an appointment with the service. Only 10 days later, it came on by itself as soon as I got in the car and went off after 2 minutes. It did this again 10 days later. When the service day came, I took it in, and despite resetting and re-installing software, it did not fix it. They made an appointment for a later date and said they would remove the door panels, which I was very upset about. During the past period, just as the ambient light was on, I tried to keep it on manually by constantly changing colors without missing a second. Although it stayed on longer, it inevitably went off :) I repeated this 2 or 3 times, and now it could stay on for up to 20 minutes without going off. For some reason, it would go off again when I changed modes. I equalized the interior lighting level in all modes, for example, I set it to 5 from 1 to 7, sport, eco, and normal. I noticed that the module couldn't change the color and intensity at the same time. The problem was solved, and I canceled the service date for panel removal. This is an important point because there are some people experiencing the ambient light problem, albeit a few, that can be solved this way. The second problem is the sign recognition light comes on intermittently, even though all radar and camera systems are clean. It sometimes doesn't come on at all for 2 hours, and sometimes it comes on non-stop. I've made peace with this and it doesn't bother me anymore. Let me give you a little information: if you turn off the overspeed warning in ADAS, the sign recognition light comes on for 5 seconds, and then it goes off. Don't think of this as a malfunction; the manual states it will flash and then go off. I've never had any problems leaving the vehicle on the road and haven't received any malfunction indicator lights. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied. You don't even notice the speed. It feels like you're going 80 at 130 mph. It's quiet and comfortable, and I'd say it's a vehicle that can be driven 1000 km without a break. I can't find any negatives about the vehicle other than its low fuel consumption in the city. I wish it had hybrid support, at least for stop-and-go use. Stopping and starting the 1520 kg mass with 19-wheel drive does consume fuel for the 3-cylinder engine, but it's definitely worth the pleasure it provides. My overall average for 8700 km is 8.2 liters. Fuel consumption ranges from 5.4 liters to 10+ liters. I'd say it consumes less at higher speeds. I should also mention that I switched from a 2015 Passat B8 with 147,000 km to a 408. Now, let's move on to maintenance. I'm putting aside the industry videos of this engine and using the manufacturer's recommended oil at regular intervals, and I don't think a timing belt change will be before 90,000 miles. Don't say, "Is oil important?" Yes, it is. Thanks to our industrialists, we know how they handle the Wankel-engined Mazda RX8s that enter our country. If you use any oil other than the manufacturer's recommended Dexelia oil, you can damage even a Japanese engine. Even synthetics, even if the oil number matches, unfortunately, don't match. That's why the brand of oil is so important. However, it's important to note that the 1.2 Puretech is an aluminum-block engine, and because the belt runs in the oil, it's essential to drive it slowly and allow it to cool down after tightening. This is important for all turbocharged vehicles. Extra care is required with the 1.2 Puretech, especially in hot climates. If you use it this way, I'm confident the vehicle will last a long time without any problems. You need to be very careful about the fuel for spark plugs. My preference is for thin gasoline. We know the first company that comes to mind when thin fuel is mentioned, and I especially try to buy from them. Using 97 octane gasoline would be healthier for these engines, but 97 octane isn't available anymore. I doubt our gas stations can offer 95 octane, so I try to buy from a company renowned for its thin fuel, hoping for a 50-mile fuel mileage reduction, but always. As for maintenance, I find the 13,000-14,000 lira periodic maintenance fee excessive at service centers. Spark plug changes can reach 22,000 lira. Contrary to some concerns about the 1.2 Puretech, I have great confidence in this engine, so I've decided to do my own maintenance. The cost is low. I changed the first oil at 7,500 km and will continue to do so every 7,500 km. I believe the belt will run smoothly until 105,000 or even 120,000 km. Oil every 7,500 km, oil and oil filter every 15,000 km, oil, pollen and air filter every 22,500 km, oil and oil filter every 30,000 km. and spark plugs. Oil, oil filter, and pads every 45,000 km. Oil, filters, spark plugs, and timing belt every 90,000 km. If I've forgotten anything or you'd like to add something, whether it's the engine or transmission, I'd appreciate it if you could remind me. As I progress, I'll share updates on this topic, whether positive or negative.
