From November 2012, tires will need to be labeled with fuel efficiency, wet grip, rolling resistance and noise performance. This decision was approved by the European Parliament. The new quality classification system will be similar to modern household appliances and white goods classifications.

For years, tire companies have been carrying out continuous development work on safe and environmentally friendly tires. The labeling and classification of tires will be a challenge, but the positive side of the decision is that it will allow manufacturers to focus on higher quality, special products.

Thanks to the labeling to be done, the values of tire rolling resistance, wet grip classification and noise value will help drivers determine which tire to buy.
Tire labeling and quality classification will be the best performance (green 'A' class) and gradually marked until bad (red 'G' class). We see labels such as A class energy system in white goods. The application will be similar in tire. Classification and labeling will also indicate the effects of the tires on the fuel efficiency of the vehicle, its symbol showing the performance in wet conditions and the outside sound level in decibels.

As of November 1, 2012, tire manufacturers will have to inform consumers with all technical information and promotional materials related to fuel efficiency, wet grip and noise classes in tires for passenger cars, light and heavy vehicles. Coating tires, off-road tires, professional tires and racing tires will be exempt from this application.

After 1 July 2012, all tires will be distributed from production centers to sales points with classification labels.

Car tires have a significant impact on emissions. To reduce this, the EU has paid a huge price in recent years. The share of tire rolling resistance in a car's fuel consumption is 20%, so with the advances in tire technology, it is possible to reduce the vehicle's fuel consumption and change the gas emission value.
