My 206 x line vehicle makes a diesel-like noise when it's idle. When I press the clutch, the noise is almost non-existent Does anyone have any ideas or information about why?

When the clutch is pressed, all gears and bearings in the gearbox stop. As soon as you take your foot off the clutch, the socket pole shaft starts to rotate. There are two bearings on the socket pole shaft, these bearings begin to make noise when they break down. It makes a lot of noise, especially at idle. According to what you told me, the noise may be caused by these reasons. Check the transmission oil first. If the oil is normal, your fault may be caused by the socket pole.
