Is it harmful to have holes in the air filter box? |

There is some broken open area in the lower boiler of the air filter that remains in the front bumper due to an accident that my peugeot 307 previously experienced. Not the top box where the filter is attached. This remains in the bumper below. air passes through this box through the pipe coming from the bumper and then goes up. Does air escaping from these holes cause loss of efficiency? Or is it not a very sensitive subject?

If it is cracked, nothing will happen, but if it is a hole, hot air can enter the engine.
