Intercooler

It is an additional cooler used to cool the air heated by compression of the turbo in turbocharged engines.

The air that the turbo increases the pressure is passed through the combs that resemble the radiator and sent to the engine after it is cooled again. In engines where turbo is used, the temperature of the air pumped to the intake manifold increases due to the fact that the turbo is intertwined with the exhaust system and the pressurized gases are heated. The system, which cools the hot air, which decreases in intensity and decreases efficiency, by giving it to the engine, is called intercooler.

Intercooler working principle is actually a kind of radiator. The difference between them; It is cooling the water in the radiator and the air in the intercooler.

Since the molecules are smaller when the air is cold, more air (oxygen) can fit in the cylinder when the air supplied to the cylinder is cold, thus increasing the volumetric efficiency and obtaining more power.

After the explosion inside the cylinders, the air taken from the air filter comes to the Turbo compressor and is pumped from here to the Intercooler. Compressed air heats up, and warmed air expands. The reason for the air inside is warming, not because the turbo is hot, but because it gets compressed. It helps to increase the density of hot air and contain more air molecules. The air that cools down and the air molecules increase is taken back from the gas intake manifold, and the compressed air gets hot here. The heated air expands, so the pressure increase from the turbo is the result of the air getting warm before it goes to the engine. Cylinders need more air molecules for a good power boost, not just the pressure to increase the power of the engine.

This black box, similar to the radiator, allows the compressed air from the turbocharger to pass through it, the pressurized gas passing through the thin channels is filtered and cooled, so that more air molecules enter the engine. If the turbocharger pressure is 0.7 bar, it will filter the compressed air of 0.7 bar in the intercooler. must be in capacity.

The coldest air that will enter the engine means the highest power you can get, so the large intercooler means that it can separate more air into its molecules and send cooler air to the engine. under.
