If you don't have an electronic friend you know very well, nobody will bother (especially the service doesn't bother at all) but if it is properly adjusted and installed nicely, you can even use the steering lever on the steering wheel.

They stated that the date, etc. settings can be made from the menu button on the original tape. In models before 2006, it is done by the button next to the screen.
