I had a similar problem. The end of the gear rope did not sit out of the gear connector. For a while I was holding it with a plastic clamp myself. Then I changed the gear rope and the problem was resolved. I think yours is from the gear rope.

I know I have 3 gear rods, I wonder if the unchanged cubicle might have caused the problem?
