Great news for LPG vehicle owners For vehicles with LPG and new LPG conversion, it will not be necessary to apply to the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers or the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) to obtain a “gas tightness” and “assembly” report before the vehicle inspection. Thus, there will be no need to pay additional fees for these transactions.
The Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, "The Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on the Production, Modification and Assembly of Vehicles" was published in the Official Gazette yesterday and entered into force. Accordingly, regulations were made for vehicles with LPG conversion, eliminating bureaucratic procedures and reducing the cost of vehicle owners.

In the new period, all operations, including fuel system assembly certificate, will be carried out by the authorized companies that carry out LPG conversion. LPG vehicles will go directly to vehicle inspection stations for inspection. The regulation will be mandatory as of January 1, 2018. Within the scope of the regulation, the lifetime of the tank will be written on the newly produced LPG tanks.

LPG market is growing

Turkey Statistical Institute (TSI), according to data from April, approximately 54 percent of the total 21.4 million vehicles registered to traffic in Turkey constitutes cars. 26.4 percent of the cars registered in traffic consist of gasoline, 34.2 percent diesel and 39 percent LPG vehicles.

As it is more economical compared to gasoline, interest in LPG and diesel vehicles increased every year. The number of cars with LPG has increased 2.5 times in the last 10 years, from 1.8 million to 4.5 million. The number of vehicles with LPG exceeded the number of gasoline vehicles for the first time in 2011, reaching 3.2 million. On the other hand, demand for gasoline vehicles fell by 18.4 percent in 10 years.
