The dynamometer is the device used to measure the output force of a rotating machine. The dynamometer (or force meter) is most often used to measure the horsepower of an electric motor or an automobile engine. The product of the angular velocity and the torsional force (moment) applied to the rotating part gives the force. The most widely used force-measuring dynamometers consist of a flexible metal ring. When a force is loaded to compress this ring, the ring is twisted and the force is measured according to the amount of torsion. The greater the force exerted by the object, the more the spring is stretched. The values measured in the dynamometer are shown in Newton units (N). Dynamometers are made by using the flexibility of metals. It consists of two intertwined pipes. A spring is hung in the inner tube. The top of the inner tube is evenly divided. The object is attached to the hook at the end of the inner tube. The more the ground object can pull itself, the more the weight of the object. The dynamometer (or force gauge) is used to measure the horsepower of an automobile engine. The product of the angular velocity and the torsional force (moment) applied to the rotating part gives the force. HOW TO MEASURE ON THE DYNAMOMETER 1- The vehicle is placed on the dynamometer 2- The vehicle is fixed at least 3 points with a chain. Gaps are taken. 3- The tire pressures of the drive wheels are equalized. 4- The technical information of the vehicle is entered into the computer. 5- The fans are placed in appropriate places and put into operation. 6- The engine is started and the Dyno operator gets into the vehicle. 7- First of all, the transmission ratios of the vehicle are calculated by the computer. 8- Power measurement and inertia test immediately after. 9- The graphic result of the measurement is taken out. Is the Dinamometer REALLY REQUIRED? The purpose of the tuning job is to obtain higher torque and power from an existing engine. The power to be obtained is estimated approximately before applications are made. However, there is no place for the concept of "guessing" in a business that requires sensitive settings such as tuning. Thanks to the dynamometer, even the most sensitive changes in torque and power curve (1 Nm or 1 hp) can be detected… WHICH DYNOMETER MEASUREMENT IS MADE IN GEARMETER Measurement is usually done in 4th gear. Measurements made in smaller gears will create problems in holding drums especially in high power vehicles and will not give a healthy result. Also, in order to obtain more data per unit time, the most ideal measurement is made in 4th gear. WHAT IS THE FUN DUTY IN DYNAMOMETER MEASUREMENT? Fans also throw out harmful exhaust gases out of the closed environment where the measurement is made. In turbo vehicles, high flow fans, in addition to what we mentioned above, perform the duty of cooling as if they eliminated the intercooler in the turbo system on the road. WHAT IS DYNAMOMETER WIZARD Dynamometer wizarding is an activity to defraud the consumer by using this expensive device poorly. It is divided into two as showing the power resulting from the modification processes carried out by another firm, or showing the power obtained from the modification processes carried out by the company that owns the dynamometer. In order not to be the victim of this wizard, the important points that you should pay attention during the measurement: Accurate input of all technical data to the computer - Correct calculation of transmission ratios (if you do not know your gear and final gear ratios, it is unlikely to be understood - this calculation is then entirely at the discretion of the dyno operator) to the vehicle's brake or hand brake during the "inertia" test (for rear thrusters) not to be touched, not to steer the steering wheel to the right or left - Not to remove the Air Filter during the measurement - Measurements made in an environment with insufficient air flow, especially turbo will give wrong results on vehicles.
