Citroen Saxo 1.5d Clutch Failure

After taking off at city lights last night, a knock sounded, the car jumped out of gear, I thought the clutch cable had broken and stopped. Then I tried again, it shifts into gear, but the pedal grips at the very bottom, after I got close to my destination, I heard another sound. The pedal was completely useless.

Fortunately, I parked the vehicle by pushing it lightly and locked it for daylight viewing. Before locking, the clutch wire stays in place and plays back and forth when I press the pedal.

My question is, is the clutch center broken? Or is it a pedal ratchet problem? I know that the clutch is not hydraulic in our vehicles, I am not sure if it is ratchet or not. Waiting for your valuable comments.
