208 1.5 hdi gas pedal bottom step

I own a 1.5 hdi 208, yesterday there is a second stage when I press the gas to the bottom while overtaking, it would have been in automatic vehicles, but it seemed strange to have it in manual. Master, I have 1.2 vti 208 and I have it too. There's a sound when it clicks, but I don't know exactly what it does. I know it is used to downshift in automatic vehicles. But I don't know about manuals unfortunately.
