Hello blacklongfellow, welcome to the forum.
First of all this is not a forum for RC cars. This is a forum for Peugeot drivers and lovers. In case you hear Peugeot for the first time, it is a well-known car manufacturer in Europe. Unfortunately you don't have Peugeot in USA. Smile
However, I have some information about RC cars and give some idea for your question. You can safely use led strip in your RC car. You need to place a switch if you want to turn all the lights on with one unit. You may place several switches if you will control them one by one. As far as I know, you need to have a circuit for blinking function. I am quite sure that you can find instant circuits on the web. If you want to drive those light remotely, you need at least one free channel in your remote controller. If you have, then you need to buy such a circuit and can control up to 9 different unit. Check this out. It's just about 10 bucks.
